“We love Bulwell” Town Centre Team Community Interest Company.

As Chair of the “We Love Bulwell”Town Centre Team I am delighted to inform you that our application to become a Community Interest Company has been accepted and would  invite you to attend the General Meeting of the “We Love Bulwell”Town Team Community Interest Company and the election  officers for the next year. The AGM will be held on Wednesday 4th February at Bulwell Academy at  5.30pm for refreshments and the meeting at 5.45pm.   This will allow us to access the £10,000  grant that will underpin the development of the Team and the move towards delivering the programme of aspirations  and activities rooted in what local people want for Bulwell.

What is the WLBTT Community Interest Company it is just people like you and I. People who live or work in Bulwell, care about its future and want to make a difference.

We know that by working together we can achieve the most amazing things.

We want as many people as possible to get involved so if you or your organisation want to get involved and help make Bulwell an even better place to live and work, we would be pleased to hear from you and more importantly to see you represented at this key meeting.

I believe that Bulwell is a great place to live, visit, work and shop! We have a unique history dating back to AD 800 from when we can trace our history as a market town that sprung upon the banks of our own River Leen.

Our Town Centre is thriving and so are our independent businesses and we have a transport hub second to none with free parking in our 6 designated car parks. We have Bulwell Bogs and the memory garden adjacent to our excellent paved market area and shopping area To crown it all  we have the Riverside Centre and the Bulwell Academy both with state of the art facilities available to all age groups in our community.

In recent years we have seen the development of some excellent community based iniatives Bulwell Toy Library, TravelRight, Right Track, Neighbourhood Watch, Children’s Centres Bestwood and Bulwell Foodbank ,the rejuvenation of Bulwell Bogs, Bulwell Arts Festival , Bulwell Health and Well Being programme, Bulwell Community Garden, Churches Together in Bulwell, Street Pastors, Parent Partnership, Tenants and resident groups and much more.

Bulwell has so much to offer and we  have the opportunity to help shape its future NOW and make it even better for the local community, businesses and traders and visitors alike.

The concept of “We love Bulwell” Town Centre Team is a creation of Mary Portas (Queen of Shops) and in her visit to Nottingham she identified Bulwell and The Lace Market as the only two places in Nottingham to be  awarded this accolade. It comes with  a grant of £10,000 from the Department for Community and Local Government to establish our Town Team,

In July 2014 I agreed to take on the Chairmanship of the “We Love Bulwell” Town Centre Team Steering Committee.  We have undertaken consultations with local businesses, organizations and local residents. We have worked hard to set up and register “The We Love” Bulwell Town Centre Team Community Interest Company with 4 directors. We now need to formally constitute this new organization, elect officers and adopt the policies and begin to work on determining the use of the monies we have been allocated. This must be done by the end of the financial year 2014/2015 March 31 otherwise the monies have to be returned to the Association of Town Centre Managers.
